Ephesus won’t be involved in Carrier Dome renovation

Apparent contract dispute causes project to move in a different direction

The Post-Standard | syracuse.com in Syracuse, NY is reporting that the renovation project at the largest indoor stadium in the Northeast U.S., Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome, has experienced a contract dispute between Cooper Lighting Solution’s local Ephesus Sports Lighting brand and the project’s construction team.

Before reading The Post Standard article, please consider the following:

  1. In any contract dispute or legal matter, learning just one side’s account often does not allow for all the pertinent facts in the matter to be evaluated.
  2. If you’ve ever been involved in stadium or arena projects, you know that they can be some of the most complex projects from both technical lighting and contract negotiation standpoints.  Stadia and arenas often try to leverage the high-profile nature of the project into a long list of requests: many reasonable requests –  and often times, many bold requests.
  3. The project negotiations likely started before COVID-19 emerged.
