Are you are passionate about lighting, able to manage multiple projects at one time, oversee and mentor junior lighting designers, and collaborate with project teams?

Your New Role:

  • Responsible for the overall design vision, delivery, and execution of the lighting for large scale (+1 million sf) and complex projects.
  • Provide project lighting designers with guidance, expertise, management, and encouragement.
  • Account for design decisions and project outcomes (design and financial).
  • Participate in presentations directly to both the architectural team as well as external clients.
  • Execute project plans and fulfill contracted scope and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the lighting studio core team to ensure appropriate balance of workload within the studio.
  • Lead design and technical delivery in addition to quality control efforts for projects.

What you will need to Succeed:

  • 10+ years of architectural lighting design experience and a college degree in lighting related field
  • Competence in software applications related to documentation and delivery (Revit and AGI32)
  • Excellent conceptualization and design ability including mastery of graphic communication of design ideas (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up, Hand and Computer Sketching, Rendering)
  • Cert/Membership preferred (CLD, IALD Professional Member, Member IES, LEED, NCQLP LC, etc.)
  • Excellent understanding of the lighting industry
  • Excellent lighting specification writing skills
  • Excellent understanding of working within architectural process, design and construction phases
  • Excellent ability to delegate, inspire others to think big, and generate multiple design options
  • Excellent understanding of energy codes (Washington, Seattle, Title 24)
  • Excellent collaborative leadership skill sets
  • Strong understanding of lighting controls
  • Strong understanding of LEED lighting criteria
  • Strong understanding of daylighting practices
  • Future outlook on advancing lighting technology and design tools
  • Highly involved in mentoring of staff and designers
  • Clear internal/external client and consultant communication
