Outdoor-Focused Architectural & Design Specification Salesperson, Northern New Jersey

The primary focus of this role will be calling on landscape architects and other industry influencers in the outdoor space. In this position, you will be a key part of our specification team. The role will require you to educate landscape architects, designers, and other stakeholders on our products’ features and benefits, and the value of Synergy’s best-in-class customer support services. 

A successful A&D Specification Salesperson in the outdoor space will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop new customer relationships and business opportunities by attending industry events and working with individual A&D firms
  • Foster and grow existing relationships
  • Identify projects, specify solutions, and drive sales through technical expertise and a high level of customer service
  • Surround project specifications through effective communication with team members
  • Support manufacturer visits by scheduling presentations with key specifiers and accounts
  • Work with the Synergy specification and marketing teams to develop campaigns, initiatives and events that promote our manufacturers, services, and brand
  • Represent Synergy at industry trade organizations and networking events 
  • Become an expert on our products and solutions for specification customers, end-users, and partners
  • Ability to work independently in the field and remotely from a home-office
  • Utilize Oasis CRM and HubSpot to maintain customer and project information
  • Stay aligned with Synergy’s core business values and brand


  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Prior lighting or architectural experience in the outdoor space preferred
  • Passion for sales or design, working with the design community, and understanding the construction sales cycle
  • Ability to follow construction projects through long sales cycle
  • Driven to quickly learn about and specify technical products
  • Demonstrated experience solving complex problems within a team environment
  • ​Exceptional capacity and propensity for teamwork – must be able to collaborate with a team to strengthen specifications, deepen relationships, add value, and ultimately grow sales by closing projects
